Suicide bomber kills two

MINGORA, Aug 3: A suicide blast targeting family of the district nazim of Swat killed two persons and injured six members of the family in the Gora village of Matta tehsil on Friday night.

The head and limbs of the alleged bomber were found at the site of blast, eyewitnesses said.

Two vehicles of the family of Nazim Jamal Nasir were damaged. The injured were the nazim’s father, Shujaat Ali Khan, a former provincial minister and PML(Q) leader, his brother Malik Ahmad, a union nazim and children of Mr Ahmad.

Officials suspected that the bomber had targeted the two cars carrying the nazim’s family. One car was driven by Mr Malik Ahmad and the second by a driver.

One of the deceased was a passerby identified as Abdur Rehman of the Gora village.

The mother of the nazim and wife of Malik Ahmad suffered minor injuries.

Police also defused a roadside bomb in Sambat area.
