ABBOTTABAD: Paramedics call off strike

ABBOTTABAD, Aug 14: Paramedical staff of the Ayub Medical Complex Hospital called off their four-day strike unconditionally and resumed their duties on Monday, said the hospital’s CEO Prof Ziaur Rehman.

Speaking at a press conference, he said the hospital management would not compromise on principles. However, he gave an assurance that services of the hospital employees would be regularised after scrutiny.

About union activities, he said the ban imposed by the management would stay and no politicking would be allowed in the hospital.

The hospital’s paramedical, sanitation and technical staff had boycotted work following sacking of two employees on corruption charges. The protesting staffers had presented 13 demands to the management, which included reinstatement of the two employees.
