33.37pc clear Sargodha varsity’s BA exams

SARGODHA, Aug 18: The University of Sargodha has announced its first annual BA/BSc Examination 2007 showing 33.37 per cent candidates clearing the exams. As many as 9,190 students appeared out of which 3,067 got through the exams.

A private candidate, Muhammad Yar of Chiniot, Jhang district, Roll No 5,831, clinched overall first position by securing 626 marks, another private candidate Bushra Kunwal of Sargodha, Roll No 2,569, stood second with 617 marks while Mumtaz Ahmad of the Government College, Shahpur Sadar, bagged third position by getting 614 marks. All of them had taken BA exams.

In BSc exams, Wajeeha Tahir of the Government Postgraduate College for Women captured the first position by securing 574 marks, Sidra Farooqi of the same college second with 569 marks and Muhammad Danial third position with 560 marks.

Speaking on the occasion, vice-chancellor Dr Muhammad Akram said at least 70 PhD and 100 MPhil teachers were currently teaching at the university.

He said PhD programmes were being launched in science subjects besides arts while grant of Rs470 million had been approved for the university which started BA/BSc examination with 456 students and now this number had gone up to 10,000.
