PBSA delegation to finalise snooker series in Delhi
KARACHI, Aug 18: A two-member delegation of Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) headed by Asghar Valika is due to leave for New Delhi on Monday to finalise the dates for the Indo-Pakistan Snooker series.
The delegation which also includes Vice President Alamgir Shaikh is visiting India at the invitation of the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI).
The PBSA chief said during his meeting with the Indian officials he will also be finalising the various future events between the two arch-rivals for the promotion and development of snooker in the region.
Asghar, who is also the President of the SAARC Billiards and Snooker Federation, said that his prime objective during the one-week trip to India is to finalise the dates of the much delayed fourth edition of the snooker Test series between the two neighbouring countries.
He said BSFI wanted to hold the Test series in December in Delhi or Indore and the dates will be finalised during the meeting with the Indian officials.
The launching of the Test snooker series in 2004 between the two countries helped in raising the standard of the cueists. Besides the annual Test series, Asghar said, he was carrying the proposal of a tri-series between Pakistan, India and probably one of the United Arab Emirates or some other Gulf nation.
Asghar said he will also visit Mumbai and Indore and watch the Asian Under-21 Billiards Championship to be held in Goa. —APP
