HYDERABAD, Aug 22: The University of Sindh has decided to give relief in fee to the students affected by the floods and rains in different parts of the province.

The decision in this regard was taken at a meeting held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on Wednesday.

Pro-vice chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, registrar Mohammad Saleh Rajar, director finance Faiz Mohammad Hingoro and deputy director admissions Mohammad Ali Pathan attended the meeting.

The vice-chancellor expressed concern over the losses due to the floods and said that parents and students have approached the university for support to students to continue their education.

The students of the flood hit areas are being facing financial and other difficulties.

The meeting decided to give relief during current academic session to the students.

The meeting was informed that floods had affected Taluka Johi, Mehar, Qubo Saeed Khan, Miro Khan, Qambar, Warah and Shahdadkot and its surrounding villages.

It was decided that the university would provide relief in fee to its students of the identified areas and for this purpose applications from students would be invited through their teaching institutes/departments for the necessary process.

Applications from the students residing in boys and girls hostels duly signed by provosts of boys and girls hostels would be considered on attestation of the provosts of the respective hostels.

The meeting decided to forward a letter to Higher Education Commission in Islamabad to seek financial assistance in addition to relief provided by the University to the students.

MBBS ADMISSION: Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro announced here on Wednesday that the date for submitting forms for admission in MBBS has been extended to September 8.

The university further announced that pre-entry test for admission would be held on the same day in Hyderabad, Larkana and Sukkur on September 23.
