Militant commander surrenders

QUETTA, Aug 25: Wadera Tawakkal Khan Mundrani Bugti, a militant commander, surrendered before the authorities with 20 ‘miscreants’ in Sui on Saturday.

Official sources said the militants had been operating against the security forces in the mountains of the Dera Bugti district for the last one year.

Tawakkal Bugti announced his complete support to the government and said that he and other ‘fararis’ were misguided by their elders.

“We have suffered huge losses after joining militants, depriving our children of education and other facilities,” he told officials of the local administration.

The sources said the militants surrendered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition which included 20 AK-47 rifles, anti-aircraft guns with 2,000 rounds, rocket-launchers, rockets, heavy machineguns, shells of RPG-7, anti-aircraft guns, missiles, anti-tank mines, 2,000 rounds of ammunition, mortars, remote control devices, 50kg of explosives and 303 rifles.
