SWABI: Two suspects held in Rs25m robbery case

SWABI, Sept 18: Two people were arrested here on Tuesday on suspicion of their involvement in the Rs25 million robbery committed in a jewellery shop on Saturday night.

They had allegedly taken away gold, silver and cash worth Rs25 million from the shop of Abdul Sattar in Topi’s main bazaar on Saturday night.Police identified the suspects as watchman Bahadar Sher and salesman Omer Zeb.“Both the suspects are in the custody of the Topi police and we are investigating the incident,” said an official.

Jewellers Association president Nooral Hadi told this correspondent that they had postponed Tuesday’s strike after SP (investigation) Jehan Zeb Khan held talks with their divisional general secretary and assured him all possible steps for the recovery of the looted valuables and cash.

“We would wait till Saturday and if the police failed to find the looted jewellery and cash than we would adopt our own line of action,” said Mr Hadi.

He declared that there would be no extension in the deadline, predicting that the jewellers of the district and Mardan would join them in the protest.
