NAWABSHAH: Doctors strike enters 12th day
NAWABSHAH, Sept 25: Doctors doing post graduation at the Nawabshah Medical College and Hospital continued token hunger strike on 12th consecutive day here on Tuesday against non-payment of stipend.
They boycotted ward duties and gathered at protest camp setup outside the office of Medical Superintendent.
Dr Akbar Khaskheli, Dr Kashif, Dr Ashfaq and others said they were performing duties round the clock and serving patients but were being deprived of stipend. They said only the FCPS PGs were getting stipend of Rs6,000 but that too stopped some few months back.
They said the MD and the MS too, were not being paid stipend with an excuse that they’ll be paid once their research papers were approved.They said doctors doing diploma in gynaecology, paediatrics, anaesthesia, ENT and other departments were not entitled for any stipend which was an injustice.
They demanded of the governor and Chief Minister Sindh to direct Health and Finance Department to release stipend to the FCPS, the MD and the MS students and increase it up to Rs15,000 as announced and also fix stipend for diploma PG students.
robberY: A shop was looted by three unidentified armed men on Sakrand Road on Tuesday.
Three armed dacoits barged into the mobile phone shop in Gharibabad, Sakrand Road and deprived the owner Kishore Kumar of Rs50,000 cash and dozens of phones at gunpoint.
No FIR was lodged till the filing of this report.
Meanwhile, three unidentified armed men snatched a motorbike from Mohammad Rajput from village Paryal Shah at gunpoint and escaped.
Meanwhile, some unknown persons snatched a rented car at Sakrand-Nawabshah Link Road on Tuesday.
Some persons hired a taxi (AJE-831) from the railway station stand. As they reached near Rohri Canal at Sakrand Link Road, they on gunpoint threw the driver Noor Mohammad Zardari on road and escaped with the car.
The driver reported the matter to police after which police began checking and later found the car parked near Sakrand town.
