HYDERABAD : SU resumes academic activities amid tension
HYDERABAD, Sept 26: Sindh University resumed academic activities amid strict security on Wednesday following Tuesday’s clashes between two student groups resulting in injuries to many students.
Police has intensified patrolling at the campus and strict vigilance was being maintained at the university premises and hostel gates.
A meeting held on Tuesday evening under the university vice-chancellor Mazh-arul Haq decided to beef up security at the campus and hostel gates.
It took serious notice of the involvement of outsiders in the clashes and decided to arrest them.
Meanwhile, the vice-chancellor on Wednesday visited the neuro ward and inquired after the health of a student, Irfan, who has been admitted there with serious head injuries.
Our correspondent adds: The Jamshoro police registered two separate cases against the activists of Jeay Sindh Students Federation (Arisar group) on Tuesday night on the complaints of the activists of Sindh People’s Students Federation (SPSF).
The FIRs were lodged following the Wednesday night incident in which Razaq Brohi suffered bullet injuries. Police have arrested JSSF’s Shabbir Palejo, a student of Philosophy.
