HYDERABAD : University reschedules exams

HYDERABAD, Sept 28: The deans of faculties and heads of institutes and departments of the University of Sindh on Friday decided to reschedule midterm examinations, to be conducted now from Oct 1 to 20, in light of students’ request to put them back keeping in vie the holy month of Ramazan and Eid holidays,

The high level meeting presided over by Vice-Chancellor Dr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui expressed grave concern over clashes between students’ political groups, which had disrupted the peaceful educational atmosphere of the campus.

Mr Siddiqui urged the teachers to actively involve themselves in students’ affairs to be able to help maintain a peaceful educational atmosphere at the campus.

He informed the meeting that a group of students had called on him on Thursday night and requested to reschedule midterm examination and sought protection from the terrorists of political groups.

He assured the students that the university had adopted strict security measures including search operation and urged them to cooperate with the administration in maintaining peace.

Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh, all the deans of the faculties, directors of institutes, chairpersons of departments, registrar, provost of hostels and the controller of examinations attended the meeting.

REGULARISATION: Sindh Minister for Revenue Dr Irfan Gul Magsi has expressed the hope that the villagers will soon get proprietary rights after the survey for regularisation of all the villages of the province was completed.

He said while speaking at an Iftar dinner given in his honour in Tando Allahyar on Thursday that the survey of all the approved villages according to 1996 data would be completed soon and the villagers would soon be able to get all the basic facilities.
