HYDERABAD: Oil firms urged to help repair roads

HYDERABAD, Oct 4: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has called upon the multinational gas and oil companies to extend financial assistance to the district government for repair and construction of roads.

Speaking at a meeting with the officials of the OGDC and the JJVL at his office here on Thursday, he said that he roads of the city had been constructed for light traffic but heavy vehicles of the oil and gas companies had caused damage to some roads.

Pointing out the roads which needed repair, he said that the district government found it difficult to get the roads frequently repaired as it had limited resources. The nazim also called upon the officials of the OGDC and the JJVL to ask their drivers to avoid using roads on which heavy traffic was prohibited.

He lauded the oil and gas companies for contributing to boosting up the economy of the country and providing employment to local youth.

Mr Jamil said that despite financial constraints, the district government was striving to provide facilities to the people and they would start getting relief after completion of the projects launched by the district government in different sectors.
