Entry of 42 Ulema into Haripur banned
PESHAWAR, March 20: Haripur district administration banned on Tuesday the entry of about 42 religious leaders into the limits of Haripur from Wednesday.
Their entry was banned by the district Nazim, Haripur, Dr Raja Amer Zaman, through an order issued under section 5(1)A of the West Pakistan Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960.
The order says the step has been taken to ensure public safety, particularly in view of maintaining tranquillity during Muharram as these persons appeared to be in the habit of delivering provocative sectarian speeches, which spread feelings of enmity and hatred among Sunnis and Shias.
