HYDERABAD: Purchase of equipment for water testing lab approved

HYDERABAD, Oct 16: District Development Committee at a meeting held here the other day, approved the purchase of scientific equipment for the water and food testing laboratory under the annual development programme 2007-08 and also sanctioned two schemes of Citizens Community Board. DCO Hyderabad Aftab Ahmed Khatri presided over the meeting.

Under the Community Boards schemes, it was decided to add more rooms to Rajput Public School Tandojam rural taluka Hyderabad at a cost of Rs2.28 million out of which the district government would pay Rs1.784 million while the remaining amount of Rs0.446 million would be paid by the Rajput Citizens Community Board.

The other scheme of a graveyard at Ganjo Takkar Latifabad taluka would cost Rs1 million for which the district government would pay Rs0.8 million while Human Welfare Citizens community will contribute Rs0.2 million.

The meeting also decided to send the electrification scheme of MPA Ms Farheen Mughal to supply electricity to Mohammad Burdi, Mohammad Nazar Jatoi, Juma Ghashkori and Ramzan Khaskheli villages to district nazim Hyderabad.

This electrification programme would cost Rs2.1735 million.

EDOs Community Development Department, Health, Works and Services and Education and district officer finance attended the meeting.

APMA: The coordinator of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance, Sindh chapter, Riaz Nazir, has categorically denied press reports that the provincial president of APMA and former MPA Saleem Khursheed Khokhar and secretary-general and former MPA Michael Javed had joined the PPP.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that the minorities leaders had never announced at the press conference held at Hyderabad that they had joined the PPP.

He pointed out that the alliance was the representative of the minorities of the country and it was struggling to preserve the identity of the minorities and to protect their interests.

He said that it was on account of this struggle that PPP chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto had acknowledged the alliance as a separate political entity and included it in the ARD.

He appealed to all the minority communities to reach Karachi airport on Oct 18 to welcome Ms Bhutto.

PDF: Peoples Doctors Forum, LUMHS unit has announced an elaborate programme to provide medical treatment at different place to all the people going to Karachi to receive PPP chairperson Ms Benazir Bhutto on Oct 18.

Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Tuesday, the president PDF LUMHS unit Dr Arshad Hussain Abro, general secretary Dr Agha Ahmed Hussain and organiser Dr Shams Junejo said that the Jamshoro branch of the forum would set up medical camps at toll plaza Hyderabad from October 17 to October 19 while an ambulance would be provided to the party’s caravan of Hyderabad district.

They said that two teams of specialists along with two ambulances would accompany the motorcade of Ms Benazir Bhutto while the Karachi branch of the forum will set up a medical camp at Mazar-i-Quaid.

The Malir and Thatta branches of the forum will set up medical camp at Star gate Karachi airport and ambulances and doctors’ teams would accompany all the caravans of various districts of the province.

They said the camps will also be set up at Jinnah and civil hospitals Karachi.
