Arbab Jehangir dies
He was laid to rest in his family graveyard in the Tehkal area.
According to his family members, Mr Jehangir had complained of chest pain on Monday night after which he was rushed to the Rehman Medical Institute where he died.
His funeral was attended by a large number of people, including federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Sherpao, former federal minister Naseerullah Khan Babar, ex-chief minister Akram Khan Durrani and ex-speaker of NWFP Assembly Bakht Jehan Khan.
Mr Jehangir left behind a widow, two sons and three daughters. One of his sons Arbab Aamir Khan is the provincial information secretary of PPP.
Mr Jehangir was a known political figure of the province and during his political career that stretched over more than three decades he never lost a general election.
He was the 14th chief minister of the NWFP, from April 7, 1985 to May 29, 1988 during the government of late Mohammad Khan Junejo. During his career he joined different political parties, including Pakistan Peoples Party, National Awami Party, Pakistan Muslim League and Awami National Party.
Mr Jehangir contested the 1970 general elections on the ticket of NAP and got elected as a member of the defunct West Pakistan assembly.
