Punjab AAG resigns in protest

ISLAMABAD, Nov 4: The capital police here on Sunday detained Punjab’s Additional Advocate-General (AAG) Khadim Hussain Qaiser for an hour when he was reportedly going to announce his resignation.

Meanwhile, Mr Qaiser said in a press statement that he had sent his resignation to the governor of Punjab.

He said imposition of emergency was against the interest of the country.

“I would like to salute those judges of the higher judiciary who have refused to take oath under PCO,” he said.

He said that Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had instilled optimism in the dejected people of the country and particularly in lawyers.
