12 lawyers bailed in Multan

MULTAN, Nov 10: An Anti-Terrorism Court No 2 granted bail to all the 12 arrested lawyers of Multan while eight others were released here on Saturday.

Those bailed out were: bar president Muhammad Akram Bhatti, Mian Adil Mushtaq, Khalid Masood, Malik Ramzan, Muhammad Rauf, Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed, Shahzeb Khan, Aurangzeb Khan, Muhammad Akbar, Malik Khalid Naeem, Nadeem Abbas and Muhammad Anwar. They were arrested on Tuesday during clashes between police and lawyers in district and high court complexes.

However, bar president Muhammad Akram Bhatti, Mian Adil Mushtaq and Khalid Masood could not be released due to their fresh detention orders. They were shifted to the Jhelum jail.

Meanwhile, lawyers continued their protest against the imposition of emergency and suspension of the Constitution.

They gathered outside district courts and chanted slogans against the government.

The district bar association announced Rs15,000 for the families of all the arrested lawyers in Multan.
