HYDERABAD: Police accused of intimidation

HYDERABAD, Nov 19: Acting Chairman, Sindh Taraqi Passand Party Dr Abdul Hameed Memon, General Secretary Hoat Khan Gadhi, Qadir Channa and Muzaffar Kalhoro have condemned police action against party activists in Karachi during a peaceful protest.

In a statement faxed to Dawn on Monday, they said Karachi police resorted to baton charge, tortured peaceful protesters, and arrested 20 workers, including Aijaz Samtio, Qasim Chandio, Shahid Dino and Rano Khan.

They said the democratic struggle cannot be stopped through state repression and added the party workers were prepared to render all sorts of sacrifices. They said the days of dictators were numbered.

They vowed to continue the struggle till the restoration of democracy, constitution, fundamental human rights, independence of judiciary and media and release of party Chairman, Dr Qadir Magsi and other political activists.
