Saeed advances in seniors tennis
KARACHI, Nov 19: Abdul Saeed moved ahead when he notched up a convincing 6-0, 6-0 victory over Quetta’s Waseem Baran in 35-plus singles of the ninth KC Pakistan International Seniors Tennis Championship at the Karachi Club courts on Monday.
The ITF group four world-ranking tournament is being played in men’s 35, 45, 55 plus singles and doubles, ladies 35-plus singles and mixed doubles.
The event, which is held annually under the auspices of the Pakistan Seniors Tennis Association, has lost some of its charm following regret by couple of Indian players due to security concerns.
It is pertinent to mention that eight Indians, a Sri Lankan and two Germans competed in the event last year.
This time some foreigners belonging to Hungary, Italy, Sri Lanka, US, Holland and Germany, based here, are competing with home players.
Tuesday’s fixtures:
Men’s 35, 45, 55 plus singles, doubles at 6.00pm.
