Clashes in Parachinar continue

PARACHINAR, Nov 21: Reports of clashes were received from several parts of the Kurram Agency on Wednesday.

Security forces have moved to Piwar, Terimingal, Balishkhel, Sadda and Arawali areas of upper and lower Kurram and are reported to be trying to force the rival groups to stop firing and vacate their positions.

Meanwhile, 45 bodies were buried in a graveyard amid tight security on Wednesday.

Twelve inured people were taken to Kohat from the agency headquarters hospital in a military helicopter. Army and paramilitary troops were patrolling Parachinar roads and streets.

Security personnel recovered five more bodies from the debris of houses in the town.

The five-day clashes have caused widespread damage to infrastructure and residential areas.

The town has been without electricity and water and hospitals are short of life-saving drugs.

Over 200 people belonging to rival factions and some outsiders, who had taken refuge in the Toori tribe area, have been handed over to the political administration. Earlier, these people had been reported killed.
