Threatening email for Pakistan team in India

NEW DELHI, Nov 24: Indian authorities were investigating an email on Saturday that warned the Pakistan cricket team to leave the country.

Pakistani officials said they were in touch with their Indian counterparts and were trying to verify the authenticity and the seriousness of the email.

India TV claimed to have received an email from guru_boys2000@yahoo.com on Saturday morning in which the message threatened the visiting Pakistani cricket team to withdraw from the ongoing test series.

Indian television channels had received an email on Friday which landed minutes after the first blast rocked Varanasi. Saturday’s email also threatened that similar blasts will take place in Chennai, Ghaziabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Islamabad.

Police officials said they were checking out the details with the TV station. Friday’s email, which used a French domain, was traced back to a cyber cafe in east Delhi. The police are questioning the owner of the cyber cafe.

Officials of the Board of Control for Cricket in India said they had spoken to the home ministry generally on the issue of security.
