BD court stays action against Khaleda

DHAKA: The High Court of Bangladesh on Sunday stayed the operation of the Anti-Corruption Commission’s notice asking the detained former prime minister, Khaleda Zia, to submit her wealth statement.

The court also issued a rule on the commission and the home secretary to explain in eight weeks why the notice issued on Khaleda Zia should not be declared illegal.

The high court bench of Justice Shah Abu Nayeem Mominur Rahman and Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury passed the order after hearing a writ petition filed by the BNP chairperson. The writ was filed on Nov 22, a day after the same bench had declared illegal and void the commission’s notice issued to another former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
