KHAIRPUR: PML-F leader defects to PPP
KHAIRPUR, Dec 1: Former taluka nazim of Gambat, Khalid Shaikh advocate, on Friday announced he was joining Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) after resigning from Pakistan Muslim League (Functional).
Mr Shaikh accompanied by nazim of union council-2 Abdul Sattar Shaikh and a number of friends arrived at the residence of PPP leader and former federal minister Syed Abdul Qadir Shah Jilani in Ranipur and made the announcement in the presence of president of Sindh chapter of the party Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said on the occasion that a large number of political leaders from different parts of the province had made contacts with the leadership to join the party.
He reiterated his party’s stand that PPP would not boycott general elections as it would leave the field open for anti-people elements and let the undemocratic forces benefit from the situation.
He said that PPP had a dynamic leadership and a clear manifesto on the solution to people’s problems. Despite massive rigging in 2002 general elections 2002, PPP emerged as the single party with largest number of votes in the country.
PPP candidates would succeed in Jan 8 general elections despite the fact that state machinery was being used against them. Party workers were being harassed while their rivals were free to do election work under police security.
When the party’s opponents failed to find any candidate in the district they nominated people from outside the district, Mr Shah said adding that during eight-year rule the government gifted people with price hike, unemployment and the worst law and order situation.
