LARKANA: Mumtaz for election boycott

LARKANA, Dec 1: Sindh National Front Chairman Mumtaz Ali Bhutto has called for complete boycott of the elections. He was speaking at a workers meeting in Mirpur Bhutto on Saturday.

He urged the people to be aware of the PPP’s advertisement campaign and don’t be deceived of its eye catching slogans enshrined in its election manifesto.

Recalling the past he said that the PPP had talked of ‘new social contract’ in 1993’s general elections but deviated from its commitments when Ms Benazir Bhutto came to power.

He said in a meeting in Islamabad during those days when she was reminded of the ‘new social contract’ she plainly refused to implement it.

Calling the PPP a B-team of President Pervez Musharraf, Mumtaz alleged that Benazir Bhutto was only trying to save Asif Zardari and herself from four murder cases, including the murder of Mir Murtaza Bhutto, and 11 corruption charges level against them.

He said that Ms Bhutto had made the PPP an ally of Muttahida Qaumi Movement and PML (Q) and being the B-team of Musharraf it had not only desisted from resignations from the assemblies but also opted for absentia during the presidential elections.
