APHC calls for early resolution of Kashmir issue

NEW DELHI, Dec 5: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has demanded that the Kashmir issue should be resolved at the earliest to ensure peace and stability in the region.

Media reports quoting a resolution adopted at the delegate session of the APHC at Shadipora in Bandipora district said: “We demand withdrawal of military forces from civilian areas, reduction of forces on both sides of the Line of Control, disbanding of special operation group of police to create an atmosphere that is conducive to a peaceful resolution of the issue.”

The resolution supported the four point formula proposed by President Pervez Musharraf for the Kashmir resolution. Supporting the Pakistan-India peace process, the delegates hoped “the resolution of the Kashmir issue is pursued and expedited.”

APHC leader Maulana Mohammad Abbas Ansari said a resolution of the Kashmir issue would help to establish peace and tranquillity in South Asia and would also promote regional cooperation.—APP
