HYDERABAD: 13 housing schemes in Badin declared illegal
HYDERABAD, Dec 8: The Department of Town Planning on Saturday declared 13 housing schemes of Badin district as illegal and advised people in not to book any plots in the illegal schemes.
In a faxed statement, the department’s director Tahir Ahmed said that a survey conducted by the department showed that Ali Town, Chandio Nagar, Gulshan-i-Raza, Madni Town, Abid Shah Town, Marvi Town, Rabbani Town, Mehmoodi Town, Pir Altaf Hussain Colony, Naseem City Centre, Pir Ali Shah Jilani Housing Scheme, Model Town and Laar Housing Scheme were being constructed without getting any approval from the department.
He said that the department had issued notices to the sponsors of the schemes asking them to close their booking offices and stop advertising the schemes.
He advised people not to book any plot in the illegal schemes and warned that if they did go ahead with investing their money in the schemes the department would not be responsible for their loss.
He said that section-8 of the Town Planning Act clearly declared that any scheme which was not approved by the government of Sindh was illegal and hence liable for legal action.
PRESS CONFERENCE: A landlord on Saturday accused the district government of Tando Mohammad Khan and irrigation officials of closing his watercourse and destroying his crops because after he refused to leave PPP and join PML-Q.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club, Abdur Rauf Shaikh blamed that the chief engineer of irrigation, at the instance of Mirs, had closed his watercourse in Alipur Shaikhan village near Bulri Shah Karim four months ago. As a result his sugarcane crop on 40 acres and rice on 80 acres withered away causing him millions of rupees of loss, he added.
He said that on May 7, 2001, he had reached an agreement with XEN of irrigation works Hyderabad, Saleem Gujjar, under which they exchanged their watercourses and he also allowed Saleem to pass a sim drain on his own land.
The Sindh government gave approval to the lining of his watercourse on July 24, 2007 and Saleem Gujjar gave in writing before a magistrate that he had no objection to the lining of watercourse, he said, adding, that still his watercourse had been closed by the SDO on the complaint of Saleem Gujjar and chief engineer.
He had also complained to the DIG of Hyderabad but to no avail, he said and accused that he was being harassed because be had refused to leave PPP and join the Mirs’ party.
He claimed the chief engineer had threatened him that unless he joined Mirs, his watercourse not be opened. He appealed to the government and election commission to take notice of the harassment of irrigation officials and give him justice.
To a question, he said that owned 180 acres along the watercourse whereas his family members owned 2,500 acres in Bulri Shah Karim. Saleem Gujjar had 100 acre land adjacent to his, he added.
