Imran Khan to contest polls from Mianwali

MIANWALI, March 31: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan says he will contest the next elections from Mianwali.

Addressing party workers here on Sunday, he said he would visit every town and village to “convey people my message of change.”

He said after assuming power his government would extend interest-free loans and subsidy on power tariff to growers bring green revolution. “It is the only solution to free the nation from IMF clutches.

Khan accused former prime ministers Mian Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto of ‘ruthlessly looting’ the exchequer.

NINE HELD: Nine Jamaat-i-Islami leaders were arrested on Sunday for protesting against the imposition of GST on medicine, price hike and the poor law and order situation.

The Jamaat leaders and workers had gathered at Masjid Committee Chowk to take out a procession when a heavy contingent of police, led by DSP Khan Muhammad Wattoo, reached there and cordoned off the area.

Police used batons to disperse JI leaders and workers who wanted to march on various city roads. Dr Malik Muhammad Anwar, Abdul Rahman Khan of Musakhel, Hafiz Javaid Iqbal, Muhammad Amir Khan, Mazhar Abbas Khan, Muhammad Siddiq Bhatti and Sher Muhammad Nazir were among those arrested.

DEATH SENTENCE: Additional Sessions Judge Mahar Muhammad Yousaf sentenced to death a man for murdering one of his relatives.

Yaqub Masih killed Rahmat Masih over the suspicion that the latter had illicit relations with his wife.

The convict was also fined Rs24,883, payable to the heirs of Rahmat.
