Attock PML-Q president joins ‘N’

ATTOCK, Dec 15: In yet another blow to the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) in Attock its local chapter president Sardar Mumtaz Khan on Saturday quit the party and joined Nawaz League after he was not allotted ticket for the forthcoming general election.

He announced the decision at a press conference which was also attended by a large number of PML-N leaders including Sheikh Aftab Ahmed.

Mr Khan said the PML-Q had promised that he would be allotted ticket for NA-58, but later it was awarded to Punjab’s former chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on the assurance that he would be accommodated in PP-19 Attock-V.

However, even this assurance was not honoured.

He said he had wasted seven long years by remaining in the PML-Q, adding that the PML-N was the real Muslim League which not only welcomed him into its fold but also awarded ticket for PP- 19.

He said his decision reflected the desire of the people of his area and he would win the election.

Mr Khan is the fourth PML-Q leader in the Attock district who have left the party recently after developing differences with the party leadership over ticket allotment.
