KARACHI: Rangers arrest five suspects

KARACHI, Dec 23: The Rangers have launched a drive against anti-social elements and gangsters across the city, according to an announcement made here on Sunday. The drive has been launched on a special directive of Director-General, Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) Maj-General Liaqat Ali who has ordered his personnel to start patrolling and conduct snap-checking, besides checking anti-social elements in sensitive localities of the city.

The Rangers personnel on Saturday night arrested five suspects — Mohammad Anees, Mohammad Adnan, Zulfiqar Ali, Faizullah and Asmatullah — and recovered from their possession four TT pistols, 26 rounds and two motorcycles.

They were charged with carrying illegal weapons and resorting to aerial firing. The suspects were, later, handed over to the police.

The Rangers DG has vowed to root out lawlessness and organised gangs of criminals from the city, and said a comprehensive strategy had been chalked out to discourage the growing trend of street crime.

He called for cooperation from citizens in this regard to the law-enforcement agencies.—APP
