LARKANA: PPP women wing rejects Thal canal project

LARKANA, April 3: The PPP Women Wing, Sindh chapter, in its meeting has rejected Thal canal project and demanded of the government to halt the scheme as it would devastate the agriculture of the province.

The participants of the meeting were of the opinion that the Thal canal project would ruin thousands of acres land of the province. They said that Sindh was already facing water shortage and this shortage had badly affected the fertile land of the province.

The meeting also rejected the referendum proposed by General Parvez Musharraf and demanded of the government to hold fair general elections in the country. It further demanded of the government to let Benazir Bhutto come back to the country and take part in the elections.

It warned that if her arrival was halted, a Jail Bharo Tahreek would be launched.

The meeting also showed its dissatisfaction over the fresh provisional delimitation and said that it had broken the boundaries of the districts and taluka.

The meeting was presided over by Yasmin Shah, chairperson PPP women Wing, Sindh, and attended by Apa Rukia Khanam Soomro, Begum Nasiban Channa, district president PPP women chapter, Kaniz Sakina, Tuqeer Fatima Bhutto.
