HYDERABAD: APDM observes protest in Sindh: Benazir’s assassination

HYDERABAD, Jan 7: Protest day was observed by All Pakistan Democratic Movement (APDM) in various districts of Sindh to condemn killing of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi on December 27. Activists of the component parties of APDM took out rallies in their areas to register their protest against the assassination.

In Hyderabad, a rally was brought out from civil courts building that culminated at press club. The rally was led by Ameer of Jamat-i-Islami Sindh chapter Asadullah Bhutto¸ Awami Tehrik leader Vishnu Mal, Pushtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party leader Saleem Tareen and Shaukat Abro of the STP.

Speaking on the occasion Asadullah Bhutto described Benazir Bhutto’s murder as target killing and said that the government had itself admitted that Benazir Bhutto could be targeted in Rawalpindi yet she was not provided security at official level.

He said that it was responsibility of government that it should have got her post mortem conducted but it was changing its statement every day.

He urged President Pervez Musharraf to resign by accepting his failure to check December 27 tragedy and demaded that pre-November 3 judiciary be restored and a consensus national government be formed for holding free and faire elections.

He said under President Musharraf, independent and fair elections are impossible. He said that constitution had been violated by postponing elections which now would not be held in accordance with the constitutional provisions.

In Shikarpur, the activists of Jamat-i-Islami took out a protest rally. In Badin, activists of APDM component parties staged a demonstration on Shah Latif Road. They raised slogans against the government and PML-Q leadership. They demanded arrest of the killers of Ms Benazir Bhutto and immediate release of all those implicated in false cases in Sindh.

In Naushahro Feroze, Awami Tehrik activists took out a rally.

In Dadu, a large number of Awami Tehrik activists observed token hunger strike outside the local press club. They demanded immediate arrest of the killers of Ms Benazir Bhutto.

In Thatta, Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party activists, led by Rab Dino Nohani and Hassan Samoon, took out a protest rally.

In Mirpurkhas, Awami Tehrik activists staged a protest demonstration outside the press club. They accused the government of being involved in the murder of Benazir and planning to bring its favourite party in power through bogus elections. They urged the people to boycott February 18 elections.
