Man found dead in hotel room

RAWALPINDI, Jan 9: A 43-year-old man was found dead in a hotel room on Murree Road, while two quarrelling persons sustained critical burn injuries after they set each other on fire in the RA Bazar area on Wednesday, police said.

Nasir Ishaq, 43, a resident of Abbotabad, was on Wednesday found dead in Al-Hayat Hotel located near Liaquat Bagh, where he had been since 2006.

Police said a suicide note dated Jan 5 was also found from his room which suggested that he had committed suicide. But motive behind the suicide was not known.

The suicide note said: “I myself am responsible for my death and nobody else be investigated. My family is allowed to take away my body.”

Besides a suicide note, the police have also recovered some papers on which maps were drawn and some cellphone numbers written.

The police took the body into custody and shifted it to District Headquarters Hospital for the postmortem. Police have started investigation on different lines.

Meanwhile, two taxi drivers, staying in a rented room in Tench Bhatta set each other on fire and sustained more than 80 per cent burns. They had a brawl over some issue on Wednesday morning, police said.

Police said the incident came to light on Wednesday morning when some one from the neighborhood noticed smoke emitting from the room and informed the police.

Police said Iftikhar Ahmed who sustained more than 80 per cent burns had said in his preliminary statement that he was burnt by Sajid Mehmood. Mr Ahmed who himself was removed to the District Headquarters Hospital with more than 50 per cent burns. Police have been investigating into the incident to ascertain the real circumstances.—Staff Reporter
