Nazim’s raid on police stations; three freed

NAWABSHAH, Jan 10: District Nazim Faryal Talpur visited different police stations of the district and freed three illegal detainees here on Thursday.

Accompanied with the district government counsel and District Bar Association president, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Ms Faryal reached the A- section police station and checked the lock up and diary. She found Mohammed Hussain Bhatti in illegal detention.

DPO, Syed Ghayasuddin Rashidi and A-section SHO Ghulam Murtaza Rahu reached the police station and stopped the nazim from making entry in the diary, saying that she was not authorised to make such entries or visit the police station.

Later, Ms Faryal told journalists that she had received complaints of police atrocities and illegal confinements.

She alleged that police were arresting and torturing innocent citizens and were minting money.

She said that the police were arresting innocent people instead of criminals. She said that she had asked the DPO to immediately suspend the SHO.

The DPO said that a man found in illegal confinement was released and he had also suspended ASI Khan Mohammed Rind on the directives of the district nazim. He further said that she was authorised to visit the police station and check the record but could not use ‘abusive’ language against the officials.

He said that the district nazim may report any matter or complaint to the DPO and ask him for action as per Article 33 and 35 of the Police Order 2002.

He said that district nazim had no right to make entries in Roznamcha as per law and he had also intimated this to Ms Faryal in written.

The district nazim also freed two persons, Ghulam Abid Unnar and Nazeer Unnar, from illegal detention at Lundki police post of Qazi Ahmed police station.
