PPP willing to cooperate with Scotland Yard team

ISLAMABAD, Jan 10: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Thursday expressed concern to Scotland Yard investigators over the progress so far made in investigations into the assassination of party chairperson Benazir Bhutto, but expressed its willingness to cooperate with them.

Sources said that the party’s information secretary Sherry Rehman, on the instructions of co-chairperson of the party Asif Ali Zardari, met the Scotland Yard team.

The PPP senator Farooq Naek was to accompany Ms Rehman in the meeting, but he could not reach Islamabad from Naudero.

When contacted, Ms Rehman declined to give details of the meeting, but said she had told the British investigators that the PPP had no problem with them, but the party was seeking a larger probe. She further said the PPP was willing to cooperate with the Scotland Yard team, but it did not know how far they could go in the investigations under the present set-up.
