HYDERABAD: Agencies asked to speed up work on roads
HYDERABAD, Jan 14: Taking notice of the slow pace of work on the Gul Shah Bukhari Road, Haji Umeed Ali Road and Bakra Mandi Road, the district nazim, Hyderabad, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, has directed the agencies concerned to speed up the work with a view to facilitating Ashura processions.
The district nazim issued these orders during his inspection of the roads on Monday.
Zila naib nazim Zafar Rajput, nazim city taluka Nazim Javed Jabbar, EDO works and services Nusrat Parvez Mughal and other officers concerned were present on the occasion.
He directed the officials to carry out work on all development schemes on a three-shift basis.
PROCESSION ROUTES: Provincial and district leaders of the Shia Ulema Council, Syed Kazim Shah Naqvi, Nizamul Hyderi, Syed Moazzam Shah Naqvi, Syed Moazzam Raza Rizvi, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah Bukhari and others on Monday visited mourning procession routes in all the three city talukas of the district.
They also met with the Ulema of different schools of thoughts and leaders of the business community. They appealed to the organisers of Ashura processions to strictly follow the schedule and routes and cooperate with the law-enforcement agencies regarding it.
They expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements made by the district police, Rangers and bomb disposal staff.
SU VC: The vice-chancellor, University of Sindh, Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has advised students to fully apply their minds to academic and educational activities and keep the environment clean at the campus.
He was addressing students at the new building of the Institute of Biochemistry on Monday which has recently been constructed on the Sir Haji Abdullah Haroon Road, Allama I. I. Kazi Campus, Jamshoro.
The vice chancellor said that due to an increase in the number of students in different institutes and departments, the university had submitted schemes to the HEC for construction of a new building. He said construction work on other institutes and departments will also be completed soon. He visited the double-storey building and its laboratories, classes, auditorium, computer labs and offices of faculty members.
