TIMERGARA, Jan 16: Para Veterinary Association (PVA) provincial president Javaid Khan has said the association will not accept what he called illegal promotions and new cadres.

Speaking at a meeting of the association h?eld in Talash on Wednesday, he called upon the authorities to accept their demands. He said veterinary workers were playing an important role in livestock development.

Mr Javaid alleged that illegal cadres had been introduced in their department and some people had been promoted illegally.

He demanded that promotion and upgradation should be according to academic and professional qualification and duration of training of an employee.

On this occasion, PVA district president Bunir Amir Zeb donated Rs10,000 to the association.

PASSPORT OFFICE: People of Dir Lower have expressed concern over non-availability of staff at the machine readable passport office in Timergara. They demanded that the federal government should immediately appoint staff at the office. They said former interior minister Aftab Ahmad khan Sherpao had announced during the inaugural ceremony of the office in November 2007 that it would be made functional within two weeks, but it had not happened.

They said passports of many people in the area were about to expire and they could not renew their passports from the Kanjoo office in Swat because of the security situation there.
