KOHAT: Kohat, Hangu to be sealed on Ashura days

KOHAT, Jan 17: The government decided to keep Kohat and Hangu districts sealed on 9th and 10th of Muharram as talks for the specification of procession route failed on Thursday.

A notification issued by the deputy inspector general of Police, Zulfiqar Cheema, said that the bazaars would remain completely closed in the city and traffic would also remain off road in view of intelligence reports of terrorists’ plan to target the two districts.

Police and paramilitary troops were also authorised to shoot at sight suspicious people trying to enter the city and arsonists taking law into their hands.

Meanwhile, security was further tightened in the region and forces were put on highest alert along the tribal borders.

The bomb disposal teams of army and air force thoroughly checked the route of procession on Thursday. The exercise will be repeated regularly.
