HYDERABAD: Woman accused released on personal bond

HYDERABAD, Jan 27: Bhittai Nagar police released on Sunday one of the three family members accused of subjecting a teenage domestic servant to violence. SHO Imtiaz Baloch confirmed that Mrs. Sarla had been released on personal bond as the charges against the accused were bailable under the recently enacted Women’s Protection Act.

The other two accused, her husband Kanhya Lal and the latter’s niece Deepka were still in custody and police planned to produce them in court to obtain their remand.

Satram, father of Kishore who reportedly fell victim to violence at the hands of Kanhya and family on Saturday, has lodged an FIR. He said police and the accused family were pressurising him not to pursue the case. He said he was being offered money but he sought only justice and punishment for the accused.

The interim medical examination report submitted by MLO Dr. Ayub Wassan confirmed that the boy had been stricken with a blunt object. Dr Wassan said that the boy’s X-ray report would be issued on Monday and further investigation would be up to police.

Police found teenager Kishore in a raid on the residence of Kanhya Lal, a retired employee of Wapda, following an application filed by his relative, Bhar Mal.

According to investigating officer Manzoor Jamali the raiding party found the boy in subhuman condition and his body bearing visible marks of violence.

It appeared he had been burnt with hot iron or a metallic object, he said.—Correspondent
