DADU, Feb 3: The People’s Party activists staged a demonstration on Mehar-Fareedabad road near Mehar town on Sunday to protest against PML workers who allegedly broke into houses of PPP workers and injured two of them in Qazi Arif town.

They were led by Talat Iqbal Hussain Mehissar and Fiaz Ahmed Butt.

Demanding arrest of the PML-Q workers they blocked roads for five hours.

Addressing the protesters, Talat Iqbal Hussain Mehissar said the PML workers and gunmen of a former federal minister, Usman, Gulzar and Rustam Jatoi along with police had entered the houses of Hafiz Ghulam Haider Mehissar, Nooral and Mujeeb Mahissar in Qazi Arif town.

He said the armed men injured Mumtaz and Gulsheer Chandio when they offered resistance.

PPP candidate for PS77 seat, Fayyaz Butt, said the police of Qazi Arif was supporting the PML workers.

He demanded the suspension of Qazi Arif police staff and registration of cases against the PML workers and the gunmen.

He claimed it was a routine to raid PPP workers’ houses to harass them.Later, Mehar TPO Humair Bhangwar arrived at the spot and assured the PPP workers that he would register a case against the PML workers and will take action against police of Qazi Arif town. On his assurance they ended their protest.

Meanwhile, the PPP activists took out a rickshaws rally in Dadu town on Sunday. Over 500 rickshaws participated in the rally.

It started from the house of PPP leader Pir Mazharul Haq.

Our Hyderabad bureau adds: The PPP candidate for NA-222 seat Tando Mohammad Khan, Syed Naveed Qamar, has alleged that conspiracies are being hatched to ensure the victory of the ‘king’s party’ by hook or by crook in the next elections but the masses would foil the plot.

He was addressing a meeting at the residence of the Pakistan People’s Party minority wing leader Dr Ashok Kumar in Tando Mohammad Khan on Sunday.

He said the PPP was a well knit party and elements who were trying to create groupings had miserably failed in their designs.

He said the people would avenge the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto by voting the PPP to power.

The PPP would emerge as victorious with thumping majority throughout the country, he said.

Benazir Bhutto was the symbol of the federation of country and the entire world mourned her death, said Mr Qamar.
