Seeded players crash out of ranking tennis
KARACHI, Feb 8: All the seeded players except one crashed out of the men’s singles quarter-finals in the Open Sindh ranking tennis championship at the DHA Sunset Club on Friday.
While Davis Cupper and top seed Yasir Khan conceded his match by giving a walkover to Shamael Tajammul owing to a shoulder injury, cousins Vinod Das and Robin Das made their exit against unseeded players in contrasting styles.
Mohammad Saeed toppled the Sindh No 1, second seeded Vinod in three gruelling sets 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (6) while Mohammad Naseem accounted for fourth seed Robin 6-1, 6-2 with ease.
Third seed Nasir Mushtaq who had already paved his way into the last four on Thursday is slated to meet Abdul Saeed while Naseem faces Shamael in the two pre-finals on Saturday.
The juniors U-17 and boys U-15 singles have also reached the last four stage.
Promising Nameer Shamsi who won the boys U-13 singles title in the Pakistan Open at the CDGK Complex last year, made it to the U-15 singles semis ending the pretensions of Noorur Rehman 6-4, 7-6.

Boys U-15 singles pre quarter-finals: Omer Osman bt Ramiz Farishta 6-2, 7-5.
Quarter-finals: Nameer Shamsi bt Noorur Rehman 6-4, 7-6.
Ladies singles second round: Seher Khwaja bt Uzma Zakaria 6-1, 6-2; Eman Malik bt Chamara Jaysinghe 6-1, 6-2.
