SUKKUR: PM vows to hold peaceful polls

SUKKUR, Feb 10: Caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro has said that the government was responsible for holding free, fair and transparent elections in the country and vowed to hold polls in a peaceful manner.

He was talking to some leaders of the PML at the Sukkur airport on Sunday during his stopover on way to Karachi from Islamabad, sources said.

He made it clear that, any individual, political party or its workers would not be allowed to sabotage the process of elections and such persons would be severly dealt with.

He said nobody would be allowed to ruin the peaceful atmosphere as the government was committed to holding free, fair and transparent elections. Mohammadmian Soomro said that clerics and religious parties can also play a vital role in fair elections and appealed all political parties to desist from exhibiting arms during rallies and corner meetings.
