SUKKUR: Land grab: police protect ex-SSP

SUKKUR, Feb 26: The ‘C’ section police have booked nine people on the charge of land grabbing but protected their ring leader, a retired SSP.

The instruction to register an FIR was issued by the DPO of Sukkur, Arab Khan Mahar, to the ‘C’ section police on the complaint of the manager of Mustafai Hospital, managed by a charitable organisation, about a bid to occupy a plot on the hospital premises.

Defying the orders of the DPO, the ‘C’ section police registered an FIR but excluded the name of the retired officer.

The FIR 27/2008 was registered under sections 447, 448, 147, 148, 149 and 506/2 PPC against nine people, including Abdul Rehman Mahar, Abdul Qadir Ansari and Mohammad Rafiq alias Gogo.

This correspondent tried without success to contact the in-charge of the investigation wing of ‘C’ section police, Maqsood Mahar for details about the FIR.

The retired officer has been accused of occupying several plots of land in the city. These forcible occupations were reported in different regional and national newspapers but no action has been taken so far.
