Pervaiz urges PPP to capture Punjab

LAHORE, Feb 26: Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) Punjab President Pervaiz Elahi urged the Pakistan People’s Party on Tuesday to play on front foot in Punjab and not give in the province to the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).

Pervaiz Elahi told delegations at his residence the PPP had been longing to rule the Punjab for decades and now they had got a chance to materialise their dream.

He said the PPP would share the rule in the centre and if it failed to get power in the Punjab, the “Nawaz League” would eliminate it in the province in six months.

He said PPP workers knew the “Nawaz League” would not accept them while PML-N workers also thought along these lines that they would not get along with PPP workers. He said that Manzoor Wattoo had stopped the PPP from getting power in Punjab in 1994 but now the PPP could benefit from the situation.

He said all those who were elected on PML-Q tickets were committed to the party and would not violate party discipline.

He said the so-called claim of PML-N leaders Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif of any forward bloc in the PML, showed their undemocratic attitude and if they tried to play the old games, political process might be damaged and the “Nawaz League” would be held responsible for the loss.
