HYDERABAD: Lawyers seek fair bar elections

HYDERABAD, March 4: A meeting of a group of lawyers held here demanded complete fairness and transparency in the upcoming elections of the Hyderabad District Bar Association on Tuesday.

They stressed upon the observance of rules prescribed by the Sindh Bar Council and Pakistan Bar Council for the elections.

The meeting of the members of the High Court and District Bar Associations was held at the office of Ayaz Latif Palijo.

More than 55 advocates in the meeting expressed their concern over the activities of a group of local lawyers.

They condemned what they saw as their illegal and selfish strategy for getting benefits from the government.

They said the lawyers have put their livelihood and career at stake for the restoration of judiciary and they would not allow anyone to destroy the entire struggle.

Mohammad Yousuf Leghari, Ayaz Latif Palijo, Zahoor Baloch, Fazal Qadir Memon, Haroon-ur-Rasheed, Nisar Durrani, Faqeer Rahmatullah Hisbani,Choudhry Basheer Gujjar and others participated in the meeting.
