Two women commit suicide
ISLAMABAD, March 6: A newly-wed woman and a student allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves in separate incidents here on Thursday, police said.
The bodies were shifted to the hospital for autopsy to ascertain the cause of death and clear the doubt of any foul play.
Sania Bibi, 20, who had got married three months ago, committed suicide by hanging herself with her scarf tied to the ceiling in her room. The incident took place in Sarai Karboza.
The police quoted the victim’s husband, a naib qasid in a government school, as saying that last night he along with his wife went to sleep in a good mood. “There is no bickering or disagreements between us,” the husband told the police.
In the morning, he woke up and went to the ground floor of the house to get ready for work. On his return, he found the door of his bedroom locked from inside. He broke into the room when he got no response after making several attempts and found his wife hanging.
Soon after the incident, relatives and neighbours of the couple gathered in the house and informed the police, who arrived at the spot and shifted the body to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for legal process. The police said it was yet to be ascertained as to what drove the woman to take the extreme step.
Meanwhile, 23-year-old Sania Bibi, a BA degree, committed suicide by hanging herself with a piece of rope tied to the ceiling, in Irfanabad near Taramri.
The police quoted the victim’s family as saying that she had a quarrel with her mother over her dresses which drove her into distress, resulting in suicide.
Later, the police was informed and the body was shifted to the hospital for legal process.
