HYDERABAD: Truckers threaten to go on strike

HYDERABAD, March 10: Sindh Goods Transport Owners Association at an urgent meeting held here on Monday expressed concern over the theft of a truck from the Hala Naka truck stand and warned that if it was not recovered within 24 hours, the association will not only resort to strike but will also stage protest demonstrations on roads.

The meeting expressed surprise that the truck (No. RIR-2666) was taken away by the dacoits from the truck stand at 3am.

It complained that Hatri police was informed about the incident at 4am but it did nothing to recover the truck.

The meeting regretted that highway robberies were rampant but the law enforcement agencies have failed to protect the lives and the property of people.

UNFAIR MEANS: The controller of examinations of Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Jamshoro notified here on Monday that Dr Khairuddin Shah who had appeared in Diploma in Ophthalmology postgraduate examination in Oct 2007, under seat No.6, has been debarred to appear in the examination for two years for using unfair means in the examination.

SSC EXAMS: The controller of examinations, Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Hyderabad, has announced that the annual examination of Secondary School Certificate will be held from April 1 and practical examinations from 28.
