ABBOTTABAD: Transporters directed not to raise fares

ABBOTTABAD, March 10: Newly-appointed Superintend-ent of Police, Abbottabad Iqbal Marwat has directed transporters not to increase the fares till March 30.

This, he said, while presiding over a meeting of the transporters’ representatives of the regional transport authority and the traffic police held here at his office on Monday.

Transporters gave full assurance of waiting till March 30 and if fares were not increased by the provincial government then that it would be decided locally after consultation with the transporters and other officials concerned, says SP.

In the meantime, ASP Abbottabad Captain Hammad (R) announced re-opening of Sarban Chowk for general traffic with the aim to reduce traffic burden on the Main Mall Road and issued strict orders for the removal of illegal Suzuki stands at the square.

It may be noted that Sarban Chowk is the busiest centre of the city where traffic congestion is a routine problem.
