NAWABSHAH: Minister’s relatives, others booked

NAWABSHAH, March 14: Police booked 400 people, including a brother and a son of a sitting caretaker minister, in two cases here on Friday.

An FIR was lodged at Sakrand Police Station under Section 7 ATA and others relevant laws against Ghulam Sarwar Unnar, the brother of caretaker Sindh Forests Minister Ghulam Rasool Unnar; Haji Ghulam Nabi Rahu, an influential of Rahu clan and 400 others for blocking the National Highway near Sabu Rahu, resorting to aerial firing and disturbing police from performing their duty.

In another case lodged at the A-section police station under the Sections 353, 506, 147, 148 PPC, Abdul Hafeez Unnar, the son of the caretaker forests minister and 20 others were booked for creating law and order situation and for disturbance.

No arrest was made till the filing of this report.

Nawabshah police laid siege to the sessions court building for a few hours on Thursday when PML-Q leader Abdul Hafeez Unnar and Imdad Rahu of PML-Q were inside the court for extension of his pre-arrest interim bail in a PPP worker’s murder case.The PML workers also blocked the National Highway protesting the police move to arrest their leaders.

POWER THEFT: Nine people were booked for power theft and attacking a Hesco team here on Friday.

The line superintendent of Hesco city feeder lodged an FIR at Qazi Ahmed police station stating that during his routine visit he detected power theft from 11KV main line in village Sajan Rind.

He said that when he tried to stop the people from the illegal act, the accused opened aerial firing and attacked the Hesco team, as result lineman Abdul Waheed was injured.

He further said that the accused held the team hostage in the village for four hours and were later released after the intervention of a local landlord.

Police booked nine people — Azeem Rind, Sajan, Sahib, Haji Mir Mohammed, Ghulam Sarwar, Akram, Shabbir, Ali Nawaz and Faiz Mohammed. No arrest was made till filing of this report.

RAPE VICTIM: The provisional medical report of a Hindu married woman who was allegedly criminally assaulted by policemen and also suffered a miscarriage would be issued on Saturday.

The medico-legal officer at Nawabshah Medical College Hospital, Dr Rehana, told Dawn that the victim visited the hospital on Friday for an ultrasound test which was conducted in the radiology department.

She further said that another important test for confirmation of miscarriage i.e. Cerum Beta BHCG was conducted through the Aga Khan Laboratory and report would arrive on March 18.

She, however, said that she would issue the provisional medical report of the victim on Saturday.

Qazi Ahmed SPO Aftab Agheem told Dawn that the district police officer has summoned the victim and the accused policemen in his office on Saturday for an inquiry.
