DERA ISMAIL KHAN: PPP asked to ‘beware’ of JUI-F chief

DERA ISMAIL KHAN, March 17: Renowned political figure of the Wazir tribe and noted social worker, Abdul Rasheed Khan Wazir, has expressed deep concern over the ‘growing’ relations of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) with the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), saying the move has saddened the workers and those who had given a heavy mandate to the party.

Talking to Dawn here on Monday, Mr Rasheed alleged that the JUI chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman had always played a dual role in the political game and enjoyed the perks of both the opposition as well as the treasury bunches.

“Owing to his lust for power, the Maulana can’t stay away from corridors of power”, he observed, adding, that was why the Maulana was trying to get ministerial slot for his party in the PPP-led coalition government.

He said that the people of D.I. Khan in general and PPP workers in particular had their reservation about the development as they had outrightly rejected the MMA in the recent elections and voted PPP-nominee Faisal Kareem Khan Kundi to power with a 40-thousand votes lead.

He further said that this was a clear-cut manifestation of the fact that the people of D.I. Khan were not at all satisfied with JUI-F-led provincial government of NWFP in the recent past.

Mr Rasheed suggested to PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to be careful about Maulana Fazal as he might ‘deceive’ him at any time. He also demanded key portfolio for Fasial Kundi, MNA, saying it was the pressing demand of the people of D.I. Khan.
