Seminary students protest: Blasphemous images

HYDERABAD, March 18: A large number of young seminary students staged a rally on Tuesday against republication of blasphemous caricatures by Danish media.

Heads of different madrassahs who led the rally urged the government to sever diplomatic relations with Denmark and expel the country’s ambassador in Pakistan.

They said that if the European countries did not stop showing disrespect towards the holy personalities their reaction would be stronger in future.

Meanwhile, the Islami Jamiat-i-Tuleba brought out a Tahffuz-i-Namoos-i-Risalat rally on Tuesday in protest against republication of blasphemous cartoons by Danish newspapers.

The rally started its march from a local hotel and terminated at Liberty Chowk.

They said that Muslim rulers were not showing courage. The people who were responsible for blasphemy would be brought to the international court of justice, they vowed.

They vowed to continue protest until the government severed all diplomatic, trade and political ties with Denmark.

A group of IJT activists in burying shrouds symbolising their preparedness to die for the cause were also part of the rally.
