Seerat conference

LAHORE, March 26: Speakers at a ‘Seerat Conference' organised by Punjab University’s Sheikh Zayed Islamic Centre (SZIC) on Wednesday paid homage to the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) besides condemning the publication of blasphemous caricatures.

Speaking at the conference, PU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said: “Prophet Muhammad is a source of guidance and blessings for the entire humanity, and the Muslims can get rid of decadence by following his footsteps.

He said happiness and success could not be obtained by amassing wealth and luxuries of life but by following true principles and ethics.

Prof Kamran stressed that the Islamic Centre students should think thoroughly as to why Muslim countries, including Afghanistan, Sudan, Kashmir and Iraq, were the centre of decadence in today’s world.

Prof Dr Khalid Alvi said: “Desires drive a man madly and put him on the way to disaster and only by adhering to the teachings of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him) one could become successful in his worldly life and the hereafter.

Condemning the publication of blasphemous caricatures, he said such a propaganda on the part of the West would be failed.

SZIC Director Prof Dr Hafiz Mahmood compared the present situation to the happenings in the background of the revelation of ‘Surah Al-Ahzab’ and said in those days non-believers used to spread such propaganda, which was being done by the West today.

Maulana Abdul Rauf Farooqi read out his paper on inter-faith dialogue.
